Energy efficiency funding available through EQIP

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a federal cost-share program that provides financial and technical assistance to install or adopt conservation practices, including energy efficiency improvements.

Though an energy audit, producers can qualify for additional financial incentives to implement any energy efficiency recommendations found in the report. Funding is available for a variety of projects, including installation of new lighting, variable speed drives or plate coolers for the milk room.

DFA Energy is dedicated to providing DFA members with reduced cost energy audits and other energy efficiency opportunities, including information about state and federal incentives for energy conservation and energy production. Through our experience with producers in a variety of unique situations, as well as our knowledge of programs available throughout the country, we can help you find the information or the resources you need.

Applications for EQIP are accepted on a continuous basis, however, the Natural Resource Conservation Services establishes application submission deadlines for evaluation and ranking of eligible applications. The first deadline to apply for an energy audit through EQIP in the following states is fast approaching:

  • California: November 15
  • Florida: November 15
  • Idaho: December 20
  • Ohio: November 15
  • Pennsylvania: November 15
  • Wisconsin: December 20
