2015 Maryland energy efficiency announcement

The state of Maryland recently announced the application period for the Maryland farm energy efficiency program. Administered through EnSave, the program offers financial support for energy efficiency projects in the dairy sector.

DFA members have an opportunity to apply for grants that supplement the cost of installing eligible energy-efficiency technologies commonly found on the dairy, including compressors, lighting, motors, or variable-speed drives. Below is additional information on the program:

  • Competitive grant program offers up to 50 percent of the cost of an energy-efficiency project; with a minimum project size of $30,000 (maximum grant is $60,000)
  • Projects must achieve at least 15 percent energy savings within the facility
  • Application deadline is January 30 for eligible projects

To apply or to learn more about eligible projects, Maryland producers can contact George Harper with DFA Farm Services at 816-801-6146 or by email at geharper@dfamilk.com
